Le Jardin du Lunch (2022—ongoing)
Exhibited at Contretype, Musée de la Photographie de Charleroi,
Brussels Street Photography Festival, Boutographies, La Maison des Arts.
First Prize (Series), BSPF24.
Le Jardin du Lunch is a photographic series captured in a large cafeteria,
where Pascal Sgro observes the quiet intensity of everyday life.
This unchanging, almost outdated space becomes a container for memory,
routine and personal emotion, while also staging a broader human presence
— at times tender, at times subtly absurd.
The work approaches documentary, yet without commentary. Like in the television show
Strip Tease, the voice of the author withdraws to let the protagonists of
daily life speak for themselves.
Gestures, pauses, glances and silences form a choreography of ordinary moments,
revealing the fragile balance between solitude and coexistence in shared spaces.
